Sailor Moon Moon Stick & Castle Stand Moonlight Memory

Premium Bandai is releasing the sixth item for the Sailor Moon Moonlight Memory line, the Sailor Moon Moon Stick & Castle Stand! The Moonlight Memory series is made to replicate the old 90s toys and bring back feelings of nostalgia.

The Moon Stick is in a shiny gold paint and pearly pink paint. There are also 3 rhinestones in red, green and yellow to look like where the lights would be. The wand measures around 22cm long, it does not light up or play music. The castle stand has a little dish section in the front where you can put small items like jewelry on it. It’s clear transparent with silver sparkles on it. The castle measures around 17.7cm x 13.5cm x 12.5cm.

The retail price is 5,400 yen and it’s scheduled for release in June 2015. You can preorder it on Premium Bandai using a deputy service, please note there is a quantity limit of 5 per account.

It’s a lovely item, but is not for people who want a toy replica, for that you should get the proplica. The Moonlight memories series seems to be mostly practical items for women in their late 20s and 30s who like Sailor Moon but don’t need or want a RPG item. The only cool things so far that Moonlight Memories has is the disguise pen, and the star locket. If the moonlight memories line is aiming for nostalgia, then its doing the fans good since most of the people who had the original toys have probably outgrown them and don’t play with things that light up and make noise.

The castle looks like the old 90’s toy I used to play with as a kid… except it has more stuff on one side for the wand to stand. I wish they would just have a castle on it’s own. My brother destroyed the one I used to play with as a kid, sadly. 🙁

It doesn’t light up or play music like the original? What a lame replicate of the old 90’s version… with a bit of luck you can get one for $90 (I got mine a couple years ago for around $67)

I already own the proplica and as bad as I want to buy this too, I really don’t need it. The stand is really nice and the wand looks super cute. But there are other things I will save my money for, like all the new figures being announced.

I’ll sit this one out, the proplica and my original 90s Moon Stick with the three rings is enough. Don’t really see the point of getting this.

It’s really pretty (especially with the stand), but I can’t see myself buying this if there are no lights and sound. I could just get the recent gashapons of the wands if I wanted something like that (because they’re MUCH cheaper).

I don’t even own any of the proplicas (yet), but if I were to spend a lot of money on some RPG toys, I’d want them to have lights and sound! 🙂

A question for my fellow moonies: what’s the difference in size and quality between the proplica and the moonlight memory lines? I know the proplica has lights and sound, but that wouldn’t be the deciding factor in choosing which to get for me.

The proplicas are more accurate to the reality of the items. The technology is better since we’re in 2015. The Moonlight Memory Series are items that try to be exactly the same as the items that were released in the 90s. It’s a revival brand, so the sound, light and battery compartments are not as accurate as the proplicas and more acording to the 90s technology.

Thanks. I actually went ahead and did some research as well, for those who are curious about the EXACT differences between this one, the proplica, and the 90s original. The proplica is the most screen-accurate, and comes with lights and sound. The original 90s version likewise had lights and sound, although the crescent is not as full (i.e., it looks more like a banana), has more (pink) stars along the handle, and the main star is gold, as opposed to pink in the anime and proplica. It also has a red crystal that can be worn as a ring, instead of the silver crystal.

Now, the Moonlight Memory version has no lights or sound, and the crescent shape is closer to the proplica than the 90s version. Likewise, it has the silver crystal like the proplica instead of the detachable ring. For the price (these are already listed for pre-order on ebay for $65-$100+), I think the proplica is the best buy if you can only get one. Which means I’ll be passing on this version, at least for now.

I definitely agree with you on this. If you want a replica (excluding the sound) of the Moon Stick from the 90’s get a Ginnochi Prezoi one. They re-released back in 2011 and the only difference is it makes a different sound.

Frankly this one is a rip-off just meant to milk the nostalgia fans. I mean if they were claiming it was the same Moon Stick as the Sailor Moon World one (which it isn’t) that would be slightly more reasonable. But NO sound or lights? Not worth it by a long shot.

The stand is really beautiful <3 but compared to the proplica Moonstick? Nay, I don't think I'm going to buy this. Sure it looks cute and pretty but why buying it if the proplica version is far more better? Just my personal statement (I'm not going to judge people who're going to buy it ^^) but I have enough seeing them milking fans like that by using the nostalgic feeling etc. :/

Can’t figure what’s holding the stick to it. Is it just sitting there loosely? Then I think proplica may fit it just a well, those round handle thingies seem wide enough. Both toys will be falling off at the slightest stir tho^^
