Super Sailor Mercury S.H. Figuarts Figure
Bandai just revealed the first images of a Super Sailor Mercury S.H. Figuarts figure! The prototype will be on display at Wonder Festival 2015 Summer at the Tamashii Nations booth on July 26, 2015. Some of the differences compared to the original Sailor Mercury figure include the choker, earrings, brooch, bow, the longer back bow, and the clear sleeves part. If they stick with the prototype design, her eyes are a little different too. They will most likely fix the collar stripe before mass production (there’s only supposed to be 1 white stripe).
What do you guys think? Are you surprised or saw this coming? We all know Bandai won’t stop at Mercury, so will you collect the entire SuperS line?!
UPDATE: Over a year later, Super Sailor Mercury is finally available for preorder! She is scheduled for release in April 2017. They did end up fixing her collar stripe! The accessories she comes with are: 3 changeable facial expressions, 4 right hands, 3 left hands, Crystal Change Rod, effect for Aqua Rhapsody and a stand. Super Sailor Mercury measures 14cm tall.

What’s with people getting all mad and not liking this figure? I think it looks pretty cool (I like both the original and Super Sailor Soldier suits), and like another person said, if more figures are being sold, it’s a sign Sailor Moon’s doing well here now.

This line was the best thing that happened to the franchise, but as the removed the prototype face its absolute trash.
A poseable figurine with only 2 actual faces? And whole 2 closed eyed faces??
And those faces aren’t even her own, they’re reussed from another figure with a different design?
So it’s like this isn’t even measnt to work as a stand-alone figure. It’s more like a bonus item for the classic Mercury, 2 closed-eyed faces and even a bonus adult body so you could pretend she grew up, yaaay…. But no actual faces to go with this figurine itself, on model with the series and matching Super Sailor Moon’s face like a set.
So now its Tadano’s face on Itoh’s body. An adult body with a kiddo face. That doesn’t match style with the Super Sailor Moon’s one.
So now if other inners match that, Sailor Moon alone will stand out among them with her adult face, long skirt and skinny hips. While all 4 of her friends will have these crazy kid faces and suddently fat legs.
And Mercury’s only isnt blatant because her facial design changed the least compared to other 3 inners. Mars, Jupiter, Venus releasedlike this will be afwul for supposedly being more grown-up now, but still with the same crazy smiles.
I thought in anime all designing attention went to the face and eyes? And officially produced poseable figurines aim to be as on-model as possible? And that’s how it was, until this one.
Looking at that prototype, this was my biggest want specifically because of how great her face was. I was imagining 5 of them grouped together with their faces so adult, dreamy and glamorous.
And now I’m not even sure if I’ll be happy getting this only for a taller body to match Super Moon, but still same old faces from another season. That don’t match Moon’s.
Should I delete her face then learn to draw one myself, in Itoh’s style? It’s a duplicate anyway, and surely I can’t fail any worse than not having one at all?

Bandai guys, max profi with less efforts. Using 90% products already released and changing it the least minimum and we have another figure. Prepare to see all SuperS and Crystal Figuarts. The only thing we’d like to see are Endymion, Serenity, maybe Luna and Artemis but more importantly give us some villains! The Shitennou for example and so on.

I’m glad that I did not bought them yet. Now, my plan is to complete the Sailor Soldiers’ First Forms Figuarts on the Crystal version and then buy all the Super forms of the Soldiers on the classic version. Because I noticed that the crystal version tried to make them look much closer to the manga. The eternal sailor moon, i don’t know. If the classic version will have some difference in the hair, i might buy it. But if it wont, I might buy the Crystal Version.

I mean, the sailor moon crystal release is really different from the previous moon. It’s really anime-like. But SS Mercury is just Mercury with minor changes. Why does she have not the same new body that Sailor Moon Crystal has? It’s a shame. I will keep my non-super Mercury and just craft myself a resin aqua bow and the wand.

When I first looked at the Super Sailor Mercury figure, I thought it was her original Sailor self. The Super one looks too similar to the original, they need to make super Sailor Mercury really look different. Her hair looks slightly longer as a super Sailor, the skirt looks pointy,and her eyes look much different as well. Anybody else noticed that her eyes are different too?

Well I was hoping for Princess serenity and Endymion also I was hoping they could release a eternal sailor moon and sailor Galaxia that would be really cool and besides I agree with most of you about the villains release (sigh) but I am really happy that they decided to include black lady (yes!) but I am disappointed with the sailor moon from sailor moon r that there going to release it’s the exact same thing as the first sailor moon Sh figuarts that was released except with a different brooch and wand! But I think the sailor moon Sh figuarts series are well made and I am trying to collect most of them at the moment I just have to finish collecting the petit chara series

I hope they include the Luna P Ball in future Chibi Moon releases — how could they have left out that accessory on the first release? Kind of a pain to re-start buying another set, but i must support my Sailor Moon merch peeps, keep ’em coming please! It’d be nice to see Mistress 9 as well as Queen Beryl maybe? Throw in some Dark Moon family members (like the 4 sisters) and i’m a happy camper 🙂

You know, as much as everyone complains, I’m only happy because I haven’t started collecting the S.H. Figuarts properly yet. I actually ordered Super Sailor Moon today as my first purchase. I want these because I’ve seen through many reviews that the technology with how the S.H. figuarts works has changed amongst the girls throughout the series. I want to get the most up to date ones, so they’re hopefully easier to maneuver and all that stuff. I also like how pearlised they are.
Although I would definitely like some characters other than the senshi, but I’m pretty sure that won’t happen. *crosses fingers for the shitennou just in case*

I’m with you on the Shitennou thing. I’d love to see them as Figuarts. Or in any sort of figure form, really. Not counting the Imposter Sailor Moon Figuarts, I don’t think I’ve seen any of the Shitennou in doll, action figure, or any other form. I’ve seen Black Lady and a few Queen Beryl items, but proper villain merchandise is so rare.
I have four of these figures now, the First Edition Sailor Moon, Imposter Sailor Moon, Uranus, and Neptune, and but I don’t see any differences between the joints. The joints on the newer figures seem to be a bit tighter, though, and therefore hold their pose a bit better. The tightness of the joints DOES very from figure to figure, though.
Also, if you plan to start collecting these figures and actually posing/handling them, I’m going to impart some wisdom I’ve obtained in the last few months unto you: liquid soap is your friend with these things. On three out of four of my figures, they’ve arrived with at least one stiff/stuck joint. (I actually thought I was going to break off one of Sailor Moon’s pigtails trying to unstick it before I tried this.) Squirt a little liquid soap onto/into the stuck joint and start GENTLY wiggling it until it starts moving. Add as much soap as you need, until the joint moves freely, then just wash off the soap. I’ve yet to have a joint restick. But don’t use a strong soap, like Dawn dish soap, though, as it MIGHT strip off the paint (I can’t say for sure with these particular figures, but I’ve had it happen with other things). Just gentle bathroom hand soap. (Cheaper seems to be better, as cheaper soap tends to be less thick and gets into the joint easier than thicker soaps.)

And I just want Shitennou ANYTHING;; they’re my favourite characters aside from the Senshi in Sailor Moon. I really like their stylistic choices in Crystal in particular. (Which is why I want the little rubber straps, but I can’t find them anywhere unless they’re super overpriced).

I’m a little behind the bandwagon when it comes to collecting these figures. As it is, I’m starting out with getting the Zoisite Imposter one off ebay first, then probably the anime pallette swap one (and probably seeing if I can snag the first edition Sailor Moon as well), and then starting on the others. I want to get the ones that will be increasingly difficult to find first.
Now moving on from that, I actually like the idea that Bandai may be releasing all the various forms of the Senshi’s costumes. Partly because I’m a completionist, but also because it means that people who had a favorite costume design from the various seasons will have the option to get their favorites, and not just the first season/transformation. That being said, it WOULD have been nice if we’d all been notified ahead of time that there were going to be different transformations available, but Bandai may not have known that they would be releasing the other forms when the first line was created, and only opted to do so because these figures sold so well.
Now, while I have a lot of praise for these figures, I’m definitely with many of the others here. I wish they would release some other characters, like the villains (I would buy Kunzite, Zoisite, Nefrite, and Jadeite in a heartbeat), Princess Serenity, Queen Serenity, Human Luna, Black Lady . . . And personally, I’d like to see figures of the girls in their school uniforms or civilian clothes or Rei in her shrine maidens clothes. And actually, personally, I’d like to see a Naru figure . . . I don’t know why, I’ve just always loved Naru. (And it would give the Sailor Moon figure someone to save!)
Also, as a side note, since I also know that Bandai is in this to make money . . . Anybody else sensing a Super Sailor Moon Original Anime Color figure probably on the horizon? I just have a feeling . . .

I’m not picking this one up, it looks to much like the original Mercury. I’m still hoping that they’ll release their eternal forms, but I doubt it, for they never appeared in the anime so I just hope they’ll release a NQS, Cosmos or Galaxia figure soon.

For sure, I’m going to buy this Super Sailor Mercury. I am very glad Bandai is releasing this because it means that sales are going very well. If the sales are going well, that means we can probably have each and every character of the Sailor Moon universe in SH Figuarts. With colour variations, anime colour vs manga colour, and all. This is extremely good news.
This is business and Bandai want to make profits. They wont make villains and figures that need a complete new model, like the royalty figures, without try new releases from the most popular and main characters, like Sailor Moon and the Inner Senshi. Also, they’ll make us wait for the most desired figures while they’ll release others. I don’t get why people are angry with this, this means sales are going well and there’s future for the other action figures! Most of the people that are angry here must be early newcomers to the collection world because, as Dano said above, if you look at the most profitable Bandai merchandising (Saint Seiya anime) they make so many figures, same character with different variations and all. The villains of Saint Seiya just started being released like 4/5 years after the first figure of the anime being released! And the long waited 1st armors of the main characters were only released many years after. SO, Bandai is trying to see how this Super Sailor merchandising goes. They’ll probably release one Super Sailor and one villain. Black Lady SH Figuarts should be announced in October or so. Then Super Sailor Mars, who knows.
I think this’ll have good sales IF the price is lower than the first Sailor Mercury. Fans will be pleased to know its cheaper plus if it comes with a new accessory and so. But if the price is the same as the first Sailor Mercury this could easily be a flop. But I don’t think the next SH Figuarts will be another Super Sailor Guardian, it would be boring. They’ll alternate this with a villain or a must-have character to get fans excited. Anyways, they could release a pack with Super Sailor Guardians items to put on the regular Sailor Guardians but I guess they couldn’t make it, especially the back ribbon and the star on the collar and so. Its easier to do that on Saint Seiya armors than here. BUT as a collector, I am glad this is being released because now I can display my Sailor Senshi AND my Super Sailor Senshi without havind to choose which one I would have to chose.
SO, don’t be annoyed or cheated. You don’t have to buy if you don’t want to. This is good news and at this point, if Super Sailor Mercury goes well, this can only means that the most wanted figures will be available in the future. Sailor Moon merchandising is on TOP!

Like others I’m a little miffed as I just finished my set (have Pluto and Super Moon on pre-order) so as i’ll need another shelf for my collection if I do add more (and my Husband is getting abit concerned about my “collecting” atm tehehe) i probably won’t re-buy them all – maybe just my favs Venus and Saturn and mini moon as her outfit is alot different to the original. Like others I would of loved to have seen some more original figures or even just jump straight to the proper manga stars outfits as they actually look really different.
I agree with the comment on the SH Figurat stands. And the quality compared to other Figma figures I have is noticable. I recently got both version of Cardcaptor Sakura (SH Figurat came first then Figma) and the figma is miles better in detail so was hoping maybe they would do their own line of Sailor Moon…I would defiantly shell out for that.

The only thing that speaks for a new collection is if they fix a few things. Like: I find Sailor Mars infuriates me cause the stand and her hair always clash. In general the earlier releases don’t have the very useful hand stack – if you know what I mean. Wish they did and I’m sure these will all have them. I think the wrist pegs got improved, too, throughout this line so hopefully they will be better for all of them, too! I found Saturn to be amazingly posable! Haven’t got Neptune or Pluto yet – curious to find out whether they made further improvements.

I think people might be in an uproar because sales might drastically drop seeing as how these are slight variations of figures that were just released. This might make the company feel like there isn’t enough interest to produce the characters that we really want to see (ie: Beryl, Mistress9, Black Lady, the 4 kings, Starlights, Galaxia, Queen Serenity etc).
If they made other characters (ie: anyone except more sailor soldiers), sales would likely be way better which means we might have a chance of seeing some interesting characters

I completely understand the fear but that’s not what happens to profitable brands. The villains of Saint Seiya only started to be released almost 6 years after the first action figure release in 2003. They want to make profits first and release many variations of the same popular and key characters. And we don’t know how they’ll release the Super Sailor Senshi. If all together, if a Super Sailor Senshi and a villain, if a Super Sailor Senshi once and a while.

WAIT A MOMENT! I don’t understand why almost everyone is actually feeling riped off, look at the figure and you’ll see that the face modeling is different, the eyes are not the same, the figure looks WAY much better than the original figuarts. Besides you haven’t seen the full thing, they might add the Mercury Aqua Rhapsody effect or something. I think it’s beautiful and i can’t wait to see all the other super sailors, i hope they release them.
Besides all of us should be happy that they are doing more new figures, that means Sailor Moon is selling pretty damn well.

Meh? xD I mean, c’mon, it’s Bandai, didn’t saw it coming but, surprised? Nah. And luckily I’m not even tempted to buy them; I got into this line because I love the characters, and I’m really happy with my girls. For those getting them though, a good fix to look out for would be the part of the legs below the skirt.
I do hope Bandai gets new releases parallel to these reissues cough new versions, like the Starlights… I feel the human Luna is a given, which I don’t really care about, but indeed would be a cool figure.

At this point I don’t plan on buying them, but that could change I suppose. I would much rather they did new characters as opposed to new versions of previous releases. Though I did pre-order the Super Sailor Moon and would jump at the chance to get Super Chibi Moon. But that is because their fukus are so much different from the original, where as the other inners have very small minor differences.
You think they would want to release things that would sell like crazy. If they did the Sailor Starlights as Figuarts, I feel like those would sell like mad. But instead they are doing the inner Senshi again, which most people and avid collectors like myself already have. The barely have to make any chances to the original prototypes and then just sell them, it feels so lazy.

Just when I thought my Sailor Moon S.H. Figuarts line is nearing its’ completion, Tamashi Nation/Bandai just had to re-release them in their SuperS form… *sigh* Sadly, I’m one of those people who feels the need to get them even if I don’t want to get them because if I don’t, my set won’t be complete! My bank account is in tears :'(
On another note, hopefully they’ll release these SuperS set faster than the previous because I can’t wait another two or three years just to complete the whole set!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels that way! Saving grace is I haven’t bought the Outers yet, so I can decide if I want the original or super models if/when they come out. Hopefully the Supers set will have effect parts for their attacks.

I’m not surprised, but I am a little bit annoyed at what is so obviously a cash grab on their part. A little cuff and a longer bow is not worth the $50 to me. I also feel like they should have gone for a semi-transparent gem-like heart, or a regular flat plastic heart in the center of the bow. The metallic color just looks really off to me.
I’m with everyone else. Give me Princess Serenity, Queen Serenity, Human Luna, Beryl, or Nehelenia and I’d preorder them in a hot minute!

I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT!!! I KNEW it would happen lol, i am a Saint Seiya fan so i know all the tricks that Bandai will pull out in case of the figures lol. Sailor Moon is selling really well, so they’ll find a way to milk us, they have already done the palette swap figure on the Sailor Moon original color edition and the Zoisite one, and it was pretty obvious that they’d realese this. I remember i called it on the comments of another post months ago lol.
And trust me, they’ll eventually release better looking figures, something like Figuarts EX or something. :3

They’re different ones. There is Zoicite Moon, which was exclusive to Comic Con I believe. And then, a few months ago, an event in Japan had the “anime color” Moon.
Basically it was Moon, but painted with a more saturated/brighter palette to match the colors used in the original anime.

Exaclty, the original anime color edition has a stronger palette, boots, bow and gloves are red (like they should have always been) and the hair is all solid yellow with no transparent parts. The Zoisite impostor figure is exactly the same one as the original Sailor Moon Figuarts but just colored diferently, actually i belive it only has one Zoisite face lol.

Yes! The box is like the annoying “anime variant”‘s box – as in, you cant see the figure without opening the box and displaying it.
Imposter SailorMoon/ Zoicite only had the default face as Zoicite, and the optional face plates were of Usagi. I love that release but thats SUPER lazy!

I’m one of those rare people who prefer the original Inner and Outer Senshi fukus over their Super ones, especially when it comes to the Outer Senshi.
I’m definitely going to get Super Sailor Moon, Eternal Sailor Moon, and *maybe* Super Sailor Chibi Moon (because all of these costumes are different enough and will come with lots of items), but I think I’m only going to get Super Sailor Jupiter when it comes to the rest of the Senshi, since she’s my favorite. Overall, these aren’t a “must-have” for me.

Just when I was glad we finished the SHF line with Pluto. Should’ve seen this coming though. If Mercury comes with her Aqua Harp, I might consider it but not the whole SuperS line. Especially the outers don’t have any additional accessories to offer.

I actually don’t collect any of the SH Figuarts at all, I think the stands are cumbersome and hideous, and it takes away from the figures. I understand why, but I don’t think I’d change their poses ever.
That said, I do want to get the anime recolour Sailor Moon, and all the Figuarts Zeros that I can get my hot little hands on!

I think the super sailor Mercury is so boring and lazy. I already have that figure and I’m not gonna buy it again because she has a choker or a longer bow. It’s so stupid. Why can’t we get like a black lady figuarts or princess serenity?

I’m happy they’re doing SuperS, but It doesn’t matter, unless they release the SuperS version of Super Sailor Moon (and Chibi Moon), it because it won’t match.

SuperS Version is a tad different in design from the SMS version. (Back bow is a tad shorter, I think, and the brooch of course.) That would just bother me. 🙂 plus, she has Kaleido Moon Scope in SuperS. 😛

I think the priority in some cases is to just get the figure out and worry about alternate versions later. I wouldn’t be shocked if SuperS SSM was a special release for Premium Bandai or even another Comic Con exclusive next year. What REALLY gets my goat is the silly idea that the Proplica Line should apparently only be Sailor Moon’s items, and too bad for anyone else who might want the other soldiers’ items as well. :/

I agree I’ve bought the Crystal Star and the Moon Stick, and I love them, but what I would really love is a Proplica of Saturn’s Silence Glaive. Maybe they’ll do stuff for the other Senshi after they’ve done all of Sailor Moon’s items.

Actually really mad about this?? I just completed the first set after waiting so long for Pluto, and now they decide to release the Supers? Screw Bandai right now. They should’ve made these ones to begin with, they were everybody’s favourite costume. (But of course, money grabs)

No, not me, I didn’t like super S costumes because to me it eliminated traits that made each sailor senshi unique.

Well, I can see why the Super Version of the inner scouts (anime 90’s) improved their lines in a way, but it totally destroyed everything which made Saturn so special, beginning with her signature shoulder pieces… sadly, the 90’s anime already standardised quite much (Mercury, Pluto having the same shoulder thingies as the others), but with the S costumes they took it a bit too far for my liking… (Neptune looses her signature collar jewel, i.e)

Pluto didn’t actually have those sleeves (I liked Mercury with those) in the original anime, they only appeared in the S movie (a bunch of times) as a mistake.

Lol, you have no idea what they have done with the Saint Seiya cloth myth line, it’s tamashii’s best selling line so they milk it by releasing more and more figures in updated new awesome versions that fans will eventually end up buying lol. I’m happy that they are doing this tho in a way, as it shows that Sailor Moon is selling very well otherwise they wouldn’t care to keep releasing more figuarts.
