Sailor Moon Star Locket Toys Gold & Pink Versions 2015
THIS IS IT! Every Sailor Moon fan’s wishes are coming true, Premium Bandai is re-releasing the Sailor Moon Star Locket toy in both the gold and pink versions!!! They are part of the Moonlight Memory Series which aim to replicate the 90s toys to bring back some nostalgic feelings. The gold one was originally released in 1992 and the pink one in 1993. Just like the 90s ones, these Star Lockets are wind-up music boxes that will play Moonlight Densetsu (Moonlight Legend) while the moon in the center rotates. Unlike the old one though, these new ones will have a pink rhinestone center instead of just a baby pink circle. The gold chain they hang on is also different from their 90s counterparts. The Star Locket measures around 9.3cm x 8.9cm x 3.7cm, the chain measures 60cm. The retail price is 5,400 yen each and they are both scheduled for release in March 2015.
These Star Lockets are fifth in the Moonlight Memory Series product line, after the Cosmic Heart compact, Crystal Star compact, Disguise Pen and Prism compact. If you live in Japan you can preorder from Premium Bandai (gold, pink). If you live outside Japan you’ll need to use a deputy service: step by step guide (note: they’re most likely out of slots by now since there’s a quantity max of 5). What do you guys think?! Most items with a quantity limit on Premium Bandai don’t end up for sale in stores. You can try Mandarake which resells second hand, a lot of the new limited stuff end up there!

Okay, so I checked and Nippon-Yasan isn’t taking orders anymore. Yesasia is still taking them, but as others have said, I would be hesitant because orders from other stores may get cancelled as well, which is why I wanted to figure out if it’s just a CDJapan thing, or it applies to all external stores.
If it helps at all, Premium Bandai will take orders until the 11th; in the end, I was able to secure mine through a deputy. It’ll be hard to find deputies with available slots by now, but I would really encourage those who’re determined to get the Moonlight Memory version, to go around and look for an available slot. Otherwise, maybe it’s preferrable to wait for the Proplica, rather than spending fortunes on Ebay >>

Yeah it is very upsetting so now just to get the Moonlight memory series one we have to spend a fortune for it on Ebay with people raising the price of it. If it gets canceled again I’ll be pissed. I’m really sorry that happened to all of you. I wasn’t able to get an order with CD-Japan and now I’m glad I didn’t order with them. I would hate to face the disappointment of them cancelling my order. I was able to use a deputy for mine but the slots have filled up. I really hate this Premium Bandai exclusive crap honestly and wish they would sell this stuff worldwide. Nippon-yasan just has the gold one now and Yesasia still has orders for both but are marked up at $80. I hope they don’t cancel those. At least they are releasing the Star locket proplica in 2016 so there is still a chance at getting a star locket. Just might take a long time.

I have a friend in Japan right now, but I’m not sure if ordering it will be a hassle for him since it’s so far in advance DX;;; To be safe, I went ahead and ordered the gold one through Japan Hero Collectibles. This locket is not only best in gold and precious anyway, but I collect music boxes, and the idea of this playing Moonlight Densetsu makes my heart melt a tiny bit.
To others, there are still some pink ones available from a couple of sites, like biginjap or Nippon Yassan. Big Bad Toy Store is the most expensive, and I think they’re also down to just pink.

Well Proplica is also a Bandai Brand and i think they don’t do the same thing again. Proplica only could change the dot in the middle and the Backside (that there aren’t brand name, made in china 2014,…whatever)
and the melody, but we don’t now maybe its going to be good at this one? So i think another Proplica Version won’t be need.
This is already mostly perfect as an remake of the 90’s toy. Expect they changed the dot to a crystal but for that they made the wind up key more hidden because its more “inside”.

I think the next Proplica will likely be the Spiral Heart Rod so this Star Locket will probably be the only current Bandai release.
Going by that assumption, that’s why I was thinking of the big “fan message” to Premium Bandai asking them to slow down the melody from the original release. A lot of people want this so we might as well let Bandai know! If Bandai sees how much fans want the slow melody, it should be more likely they’ll make the locket like that based on feedback.

I haven’t bought any of the Moonlight mmory series items because i’m 99.9999999% sure there will be proplicaversions released eventually that will play sounds and stuff. I will however get the gold version of this one, i’m sure that i’ll get one on ebay next year 🙂

I’m a little bit sad to see this coming out as a 20th anniversary item because it does look like there’s no overlap between the proplicas and the 20th anniversary items. Maybe there will be eventually (once proplica runs out of items, most likely) but so far there hasn’t been and I’d be surprised to see them do it now and have competing sales. I would have much preferred a proplica version.
However, I am still glad to have any opportunity to purchase this locket. Like many moonies, this has been one of my top items but I was NEVER going to shell out the money to have the original. $50-60 is a much more reasonable price!
Do we know if there will be any effort made to slow down the melody, or do you think they’ll stick to the same chipmunk-speed version that the original toy used? I am REALLY hoping they slow it down to match the sweet (and a little sad) melody of the locket in the show.

It depends on which version you’re referring to. The melody for the Japan locket was the most accurate / slowest melody. All other remake from china 1992 and 1995 (asia) had faster tempo more similar to the theme song.

I have literally been waiting for this specific item since my mom donated my box of original SM toys back in the 90s. I tried the recommended deputy service (I don’t know of any other ones anyway) for the first time and was charged a” Charge 1″. Do you guys know if that means I got the preorder or is it still a maybe at this point? I’m assuming “Charge 2” is shipping.

Getting the Charge 1 form is still a maybe, it’s confirmed once the status changes to “order in transit” after Charge 1 has been paid.

Mine currently “Your quote is being processed.” I know on your step-by-step guide it says to wait for an invoice. How long does it normally take to receive the invoice? I’m really nervous about not being able to get one. 🙁

If it’s during their business hours, it takes around 1-2 hours to get the invoice.

Based on my experience and from what other collectors tell me, FJ is the cheapest deputy service. I won’t know anything about taxes for Mexico though. Customs/duties if any are not included in the charge from your deputy since the government is the one who charges that.

I had bought the old version on eBay a couple of years ago for some 500$ and then I had to resell it last year because I had major money problems … I had wanted it so bad when I was young and my parents never wanted to buy it when I saw it in store even though I told them it was rare D= finally I had it only to have to sell it away …
And now FINALLY, this came out so we can finally get a part of our childhood back ;_; no need to pay hundreds of dollars to own this beauty again <3 I really hope tons of fans out there will be able to pre-order this as soon as possible like I did to enjoy … I am just so happy

Well I remember the star locket from back in the day used to be sold at Wal Mart ( was it Wal Mart? I don’t remember the store exactly ) for 30$ =P it’s just that we can now get a recent edition for super cheap compared to eBay prices … and there’s some hope that they made the tune like in the anime too

fromjapan is really reliable though. I find that they pack everything with care and it’s not that much more expensive. jlist totally shoved my pointer in a box too small and bent the packaging so that collectable was out the window.

Oh no, the max you can order is 5 but you can order anywhere from 1-5 if you like.
